God's Guidance

Hello, We are the Turner family. We are missionaries headed to the Dominican Republic. We are sent out of our home church Hollywood Blvd Baptist in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Our mission’s agency that handles our paperwork, acts as a support structure to our home church and our family is Biblical Ministries Worldwide. We are going to work with John and Kelly Webb veteran missionaries who have planted New Life Baptist Church in Santiago. Our goal is church planting and our function will be varied. First we will seek to establish a strong relationship with the people of New Life as we serve them by teaching the Bible and promoting all outreach activities of New Life. Then we will seek to mobilize young men through leadership training for the purposes of planting other churches. The Dominican Republic has nearly 10 million people of which nearly 1 million are in Santiago. Santiago is centrally located on the island, perfect for reaching out to the 4000 towns and villages that have no gospel witness.

God has been molding and directing our lives for this ministry for many years. I (Jason) was born again at 19 years old while in Basic Training with the United Stated Air Force. Shortly after moving to my 1st duty station in Eglin AFB, FL I met Erica. She was saved at a young age and raised in a Christian home. We attended church and were engaged until February 1998. We rented an apartment in Fort Walton Beach and started attending Hollywood Blvd Baptist Church. Within a short time we were heavily involved in serving there. Too many ministries to list but the biggest was our involvement with the youth group. The Youth Pastor and his wife at the time were Brain and Melissa Schuler (now Pastor of Temple Baptist Church, Kingsport, TN). They discipled us and in a short time we were teaching teenagers God’s Word.

In the military I sought to share Christ continually. God blessed my career and after nearly six years I became an Instructor teaching Jet Engine Maintenance. With this Job’s greater responsibility came greater opportunity. I was able to share Christ with students rotating out of the classes. With a fresh group coming in and leaving I was able to establish a relationship and share the Gospel with all the young men and women. It was during this time that Christ really burdened my heart about full time ministry. There is nothing greater than leading people to Christ! Sharing this vibrant burden with Erica caused us to relish in what could be in store. We were on cloud nine when working for Christ and we felt there was no greater purpose in life. The chain of events God worked in our lives for this letter has to be shortened but needless to say He is a God of wonders! We prayerfully sold our home, separated from the military and withdrew from my last year at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Completely lead by His word that promises to guide and provide we made our intentions and calling clear to our Pastor Willie Pace. To our surprise he offered us a position on staff and we prayerfully accepted.

During our second year on staff and while Erica was teaching at a local Christian School we took our youth on a missions trip to the Dominican Republic. There through the preaching of Word of Life and Score International God burdened our hearts and opened our eyes to the world. Obediently we sought to sell our home, say good bye to family and friends and find a Bible School. God provided the perfect fit. In December 2006 we moved to Michigan to attend New Tribes Bible Institute. Through their teaching and mentorship we became burdened about those who have never heard the gospel in their language but as God equipped and guided us He meshed our hearts with the needs (people who don’t understand the message) and people in the Dominican Republic. Currently we are looking to God to burden hearts for the work He has directed us into. We must have the prayer and financial support required for the church planting effort in the Dominican Republic to be possible. That is where you could join in this worthy endeavor. (We will be supported by the free will offerings of supportive individuals and Churches only.) Please read on and ask us any questions you may have. God Bless you as you serve the King.

Evangelism, Discipleship, Leadership Development: Church Planting

Our hearts desire is to make Christ known to those who don’t understand the simplicity of the Gospel. We can think of no greater love God has shown than the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ for our sins. John 15:13 indicates that a man has no greater love to show than to lay down his life for his friends. We count the Dominican people as our friends. Just like He loved us before we knew Him, we love them even though they don’t know us. We sincerely believe that in our walk with Christ, HE has directed our hearts and minds towards these dear people. God has orchestrated circumstances for us to partner with a family whom we have bonded with in the Dominican Republic to come along side in reaching the vast population of Dominicans whom don’t understand the light of the Gospel.

Right now there are young men whom have come to know Christ and have expressed a strong desire to be trained to go out and share Gods’ word. The Turner family desires to see these young men taught and sent out to reach the Dominican Republic. We believe 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 and Romans 10:9, 12, 17 clearly indicate that whosoever believes that Christ died, was buried and rose again, secures in that act His life as payment for their sins. This new birth and standing in righteousness makes them acceptable to a Holy God. It will be only by the sharing of Gods word with the unbeliever that they can place their faith in what He has done for them. That is why it is so imperative that we who understand God’s word share it with those who don’t clearly understand. We have said yes to God’s desire to use us. It is God who has worked in us to will and do of His good pleasure to go to this foreign land and spread the good news that man can know God intimately. They do not have to sacrifice, pay money or live up to a religious standard to earn God’s love. As J. Vernon Magee once said; “Do nothing but trust what has been done for you.” With the mindset of Paul, and many other Godly men before us we have counted the cost and decided Christ who is our life is worth it all. Please, as you walk with Him remember there are those who don't know the Lord and unless we are sent they will never know. Also remember the body of Christ (the church) is the means that God has said we are to come together in unity to glorify Him. So, through believers that will seek to share in our burden (labor of love) for Dominican people to know Christ will we endeavor to partner with. It will be you who God will use to send us to glorify His name by teaching and training Dominicans to go and do likewise. One day soon we can rejoice together over what your financial support, your prayers and your faith in Gods word produced in the lives of the Dominican people. God will change lives when His people walk in faith believing in those great and precious promises He has given in His word. Lay hold of His promise to set people free from sin and death through us by supporting the Turner family in reaching people with the truth.

Snapshot of Ministry Focus

We are partnering with John and Kelly Webb missionaries in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Currently they have planted New Life Baptist Church and it has grown quickly. Numerical growth is there but not without a consistent focus on discipleship. Therefore, there are several young men and women who have shown an interest in ministry. Jason and Erica Turner plan on working through New Life Baptist Church with John and Kelly Webb to teach Gods word systematically, disciple thoroughly and train/develop leaders that can plant Dominican Churches. Specifically in Santiago a city desperately needing someone to teach clearly Gods Word that leads to salvation in Jesus Christ. (Romans 10:17)

This is why we have partnered with Biblical Ministries World Wide because their passion is to help Churches plant reproducing Churches through evangelism, discipleship and leadership development. The very things we are burdened to accomplish. We are sent out of Hollywood Blvd Baptist Church Fort Walton Beach, FL where Jason was Associate Pastor/Youth for several years.

Jason's & Erica's Short Salvation Story

Jason
At the age of 19 I heard a preacher proclaim Jesus Christ will forgive your sins if you asked Him. After hearing this message again I decided I needed Jesus to forgive me of my sins. I asked Christ to forgive me and based on God's word in April 1996 I became a Christian. Growing in these truths found in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 about this great salvation has caused me to be burdened consistently to share the Gospel with everyone I can. Growing in grace and the knowledge of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has convinced me of my calling to the Dominican Republic to evangelize, Disciple and train leaders to plant Churches that proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So that those whom have not heard or understood 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 may do as I did in 1996 know that Christ forgives sins and changes lives. (Romans 10:17)
